This training is designed to provide information on what new educators need to know about special education law and processes and instructional best practices for the inclusive classroom. Educators will leave with newly acquired knowledge and practical strategies to comply with regulations, engage learners, and promote positive student behavior.

Thousands of hours are dedicated by IEPRC staff each year toward technical assistance provided to administrators and staff throughout the state. Most technical assistance focuses on the Indiana IEP system and specific components of the IEP. Common topics include goals, progress monitoring, least restrictive environment, co-teaching and potential harmful effects. Virtual Office Hours, delivered during the school year via monthly webinars, provide immediate answers to the most pressing questions. Following each session the questions and answers are posted to IDOE’s Learning Connection and the IEPRC website.

  • Face-to-face, instructor-led sessions

What is FIEP?

What is a Facilitated IEP (FIEP)?

A Facilitated IEP (FIEP) is an option available at the request of schools and parents for conflict prevention and resolution. This service is provided at no cost to parents or schools.  A trained impartial professional (facilitator) helps the case conference committee with the IEP process by:

  • Keeping the meeting focused on the student
  • Ensuring everyone at the table has a voice
  • Encouraging active listening by all participants
  • Helping keep team members on task and within the time allotted for the meeting
  • Participating as a non-committee member, which does not impose decisions on the group
